Groundwater Quality Monitoring Solutions
Groundwater is one of the important water resources, and the amount of groundwater resources in China is 8.1957×1011 m3,the water supply of groundwater sources is 8.538×1010m3,accounting for the total water supply14.5%.According to the monitoring data of the 2021 China Ecological Environment Status Bulletin and the 14th Five-Year Plan National Groundwater Environmental Quality Assessment Point, groundwater Class V water (GB/T 14848-2017 ) Groundwater Quality Standard accounts for 20.6%. Groundwater pollution is hidden and persistent, and pollutants can affect the safety of human settlements and drinking water without being easily detected. Through groundwater monitoring, we can understand the water level, water quality and quantity of groundwater in a timely manner, provide a basis for water resource managers to make decisions, ensure sustainable utilization, detect groundwater pollution in a timely manner, and take necessary measures to prevent groundwater pollution.
The Implementation Plan for Groundwater Pollution Prevention and Control emphasizes the establishment of a national groundwater environment monitoring system, proposing to improve the groundwater environment monitoring network, integrate existing groundwater environment monitoring wells, strengthen operation, maintenance and management, and improve the groundwater monitoring data reporting system. By the end of 2025, build a national groundwater environment monitoring network;
The Outline of the Ecological Environment Monitoring Plan (2020-2035) proposes to build a national groundwater environment monitoring system that combines quality supervision in key areas and monitoring of "dual sources" (groundwater drinking water sources and key groundwater pollution sources);
The Regulations on Groundwater Management require strengthening the control of groundwater pollution and the construction of groundwater quality monitoring wells. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment and other seven ministries and commissions jointly issued the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Protection of Soil, Groundwater and Rural Ecological Environment", which clearly establishes a groundwater pollution prevention and control management system and improves the ability to supervise the ecological environment.
- The online monitoring equipment for water quality is immature, and the proportion of online monitoring points is low;
- The online monitoring indicators are mainly physical indicators, and the types and quantities of pollutants monitored are limited, making it difficult to solve the problem of multi-source pollution;
- The construction of groundwater environmental supervision platform is weak, and data sharing and application services are not in place.
In response to the needs of groundwater monitoring in different occasions, has customized two solutions.
Water quality monitoring station extractive water quality monitoring method: The scheme consists of three parts: water quality monitoring unit, information transmission and network communication unit, and user management platform measured by colorimetric method + electrode method, which can provide accurate and reliable data support for managers.
Input monitoring method: This scheme avoids high station building construction costs and can be powered by solar energy or batteries for remote sites. The online monitoring system is composed of three core parts: monitoring and perception terminal, data transmission terminal and intelligent management platform, and real-time monitoring of groundwater level, water quality and other key parameters through the water level gauge and water quality sensor equipment at the sensing end. Through wireless communication technology, the data transmission and remote control between the groundwater monitoring system and the central monitoring platform are realized, and real-time data analysis is carried out through the platform to generate monitoring reports and early warning information, providing reliable basis and data support for managers to make decisions.

- The extractive type uses a more accurate colorimetric method to determine COD, ammonia nitrogen and other indicators in water, and can meet the needs of various groundwater monitoring with various water quality sensors, and can provide managers with accurate and reliable water quality monitoring data;
- The sensor of the input monitoring adopts an integrated design, covering a variety of monitoring indicators (water level, temperature, PH, conductance, ORP, DO, turbidity, nitrate, ammonia nitrogen, chloride, fluoride, potassium ions, etc.), and the water quality parameters are highly expandable, and the monitoring indicators can be flexibly configured according to different water quality monitoring requirements on site;
- Real-time monitoring includes single-point monitoring, multi-point monitoring, site distribution, etc., which can understand the water quality level, water quality data, collection time, site map and site distribution of each monitoring station in real time, and can query video surveillance/periodic data, alarm data, data reports, etc.;
- Real-time groundwater quality information can be obtained through Internet of Things technology, which can detect abnormal water quality in time, issue early warning signals immediately, and build a safety defense line for groundwater quality.
